CHEK News story, posted December 10, 2024:

A three-day celebration will see the Stanley Cup return to B.C.’s capital 100 years after it was clinched by the Victoria Cougars hockey team.

Part of the city’s rich history, the Cougars won their series against the Montreal Canadiens on March 30, 1925, securing their place in the history books by bringing the Stanley Cup to Victoria for the first and only time.

The centennial anniversary of that win, which organizers are calling the Century Celebration, will be honoured next March 27 and March 29-30 with events planned around the Capital Region, including a songwriting contest, various hockey-related activities and an appearance by Lord Stanley’s Cup itself.
