Celebrating the Victoria Cougars Stanley Cup win with song is off to a roaring start, with 31 entries in the songwriting contest shaved down to three finalists.
The Standing Twins, Stan Davis, and Paul Gatien and Gareth Hurwood of Black Angus are the finalists in the Century Celebration Songwriting Contest to memorialize the 1925 championship that put Greater Victoria at the pinnacle of the hockey world.
“We were overwhelmed by the reception to this contest and so impressed by the quality of submissions,” contest organizer Rose Arsenault said in a news release. “These are good songs, catchy songs, that will be amazing to hear with a live audience cheering them on.”
