Timing is everything and what greater moment than when the Stanley Cup comes to the Island next week to commemorate the centenary of the Victoria ­Cougars’ 1925 Stanley Cup championship.

As part of the celebrations, Greater Victoria will be officially designated a sports heritage community by the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame. It will be only the second region to receive the designation from the B.C. Sports Hall after Kamloops, which bills itself as the Tournament Capital of Canada.
